Romans 7:11
“for sin, finding occasion through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.”
What does Romans 7:11 mean?
Paul is describing the sneaky way sin works in our lives. When God's law shows us what's right, sin actually uses that very knowledge against us, twisting it to make us want to do the opposite. It's like sin finds an opening through the commandment itself and uses it as a weapon. By "killed me," Paul means sin led him into spiritual death and despair, not physical death. The command to obey revealed to him how trapped he was in his own inability to do what he knew was right. This describes that painful moment many people experience when they become aware of a rule but feel utterly powerless to follow it, which deepens the grip sin has on their hearts.
