Romans 11:21
“for if God didn’t spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.”
What does Romans 11:21 mean?
Paul is warning non-Jewish believers not to become arrogant about being grafted into God's family. He's using the image of an olive tree where some original branches (Jewish people) were broken off because of unbelief, and branches from a wild olive tree (gentiles) were inserted in their place. The point is simple: if God removed the original branches for turning away from him, he won't hesitate to remove the newer branches either. This isn't meant to inspire fear, but to encourage humility and faithfulness, reminding us that belonging to God's people isn't a permanent privilege we can take for granted, but a relationship that requires trust and commitment.
