Romans 1:12
“that is, that I with you may be encouraged in you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.”
What does Romans 1:12 mean?
Paul is describing something beautiful about Christian community: when believers spend time together, their faith strengthens each other in a mutual way. He's not positioning himself as a spiritual superior coming to teach the Romans, but rather as someone who expects to be encouraged by their faith just as much as they might be by his. This speaks to how genuine faith isn't a solitary thing. When you're around people whose trust in God is real and visible, it awakens and deepens your own. Whether you're the one who seems "further along" spiritually or the one still finding your way, you have something to offer others simply by living out your faith honestly. That exchange, that back-and-forth encouragement, is part of what God designed community to be.
