Romans 1:13
“Now I don’t desire to have you unaware, brothers, that I often planned to come to you, and was hindered so far, that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the rest of the Gentiles.”
What does Romans 1:13 mean?
Paul is opening his heart about his genuine desire to visit the Roman church in person. He's been held back by circumstances beyond his control, but his intention has always been to come and see the spiritual growth happening among them, just as he's witnessed in other communities of believers he's worked with. This is Paul's warm way of saying, "I care about you, and I haven't forgotten about you, even though I haven't made it there yet." He's establishing connection and shared purpose before diving into the main teaching of his letter, reminding readers that he sees them as part of the same spiritual family he serves everywhere.
