Revelation 22:8

Now I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who had shown me these things.

What does Revelation 22:8 mean?

John has just finished receiving the incredible visions of heaven that fill the book of Revelation, and the overwhelming reality of what he's witnessed hits him so powerfully that he falls down to worship the angel who guided him through these revelations. It's a human response to encountering something divine and beyond comprehension. But here's where it gets important: John immediately corrects himself in the very next verse, realizing he shouldn't worship the angel but only God. This moment reminds us that even when we encounter the sacred or experience profound spiritual truth, our worship belongs to God alone. It's also deeply relatable because it shows us that even the faithful sometimes need a gentle correction to keep their focus in the right place.
