Revelation 22:9
“He said to me, “See you don’t do it! I am a fellow bondservant with you and with your brothers, the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.””
What does Revelation 22:9 mean?
An angel has just shown John extraordinary visions of heaven's future, and John's natural response is to fall down and worship the messenger. But the angel gently stops him, saying they're on equal footing as servants of God, and redirects John's worship where it belongs: toward God alone. It's a beautiful reminder that no created being, no matter how magnificent or powerful, deserves our deepest reverence. Only God does. This moment speaks to all of us when we're tempted to put our faith in people, institutions, or leaders instead of keeping our hearts fixed on God as our ultimate source of hope and truth.
