What does Psalms 118:7 mean?

When the psalmist says God is on their side "among those who help me," they're not claiming to stand alone. They're surrounded by supporters, yet they recognize that God's presence among them makes all the difference. It's the awareness of divine backing that transforms their struggle from isolation into strength. That shift from being helped to looking "in triumph" shows how faith changes perspective. The psalmist isn't fantasizing about revenge or gloating; they're saying that when you know you're supported by something greater than your enemies' hostility, you can face them without fear or shame. In hard seasons especially, this speaks to the peace that comes not from winning an argument or getting vindication, but from trusting you're not alone in whatever you're walking through.
