What does Psalms 118:8 mean?

When life gets overwhelming, we naturally look to people around us for safety and security, whether that's friends, family, leaders, or experts. This verse gently reminds us that while other people can offer real help and comfort, they're ultimately limited in what they can provide because they're human and fallible. True refuge, lasting peace, and unshakeable security come only from trusting God with our deepest fears and needs. It's not saying people don't matter or that asking for help is wrong, but rather that our foundation should rest on something more solid than any person can be, no matter how wise or capable they might seem.
