What does Numbers 16:7 mean?
This moment captures God settling a dangerous rebellion within the Israelite community. Korah and other Levites were challenging Moses and Aaron's leadership, essentially asking why Aaron alone should serve as priest when many among them were also set apart for God's work. Moses proposes a test: let each person bring incense before the Lord, and God will show by fire whose offering He accepts, revealing whom He has chosen for this role. The intensity here matters. Moses isn't being defensive or territorial—he's pointing to a real problem with their challenge. They're questioning not just his authority but God's own choice about how worship should be ordered. By calling them to bring their offerings before the Lord, Moses is essentially saying, "Let God Himself decide this, not our arguments."
