Numbers 13:9
“Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.”
What does Numbers 13:9 mean?
This short verse is part of a list of the twelve spies Moses sent to scout out the land of Canaan before the Israelites entered it. Palti represented the tribe of Benjamin and was chosen because he was respected enough to speak for his people in this important reconnaissance mission. While we don't hear much about Palti individually in the biblical account, his name appears here as a record that Benjamin had a voice in this pivotal moment, when the people were about to take a major step forward in their journey. It's a reminder that God noticed and included people whose names we might otherwise forget, and that faithfulness sometimes means doing your part even when history doesn't remember you by name.
