What does Numbers 13:20 mean?
Moses is sending twelve scouts into Canaan to assess what they'll face if they enter the land God promised. He's asking them to notice concrete things: Is the soil rich and productive? Are there trees? Can the land actually sustain people? These practical questions matter because the Israelites need to know what they're walking into. The command to "be courageous" is telling, though. Moses seems to sense that fear might distort what they see and report back. He wants them to gather evidence, especially the fruit growing there, so the people can see for themselves that the land is real and livable.
