Numbers 13:21
“So they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, to the entrance of Hamath.”
What does Numbers 13:21 mean?
The Israelites have just sent twelve spies into Canaan to scout the land God promised them, and this verse shows how thoroughly they explored it. They traveled from the southern wilderness all the way north to the entrance of Hamath, covering the entire territory they were meant to inhabit. It's a picture of due diligence, taking time to see what God had given them. Of course, what happens next in the story—how they report back in fear rather than faith—becomes a turning point for the entire nation, reminding us that seeing God's promises and believing them are two different things.
