What does Numbers 13:19 mean?

Moses is sending twelve spies into Canaan and asking them to bring back practical intelligence about the land. He wants to know not just whether it's fertile or barren, but also what kind of settlements the people there have built—whether they live in temporary camps or fortified cities. This tells us that Moses cares about real, useful details: the quality of the land itself matters, but so does understanding the actual situation on the ground, including the strength and organization of whoever already lives there. Sometimes we need to look carefully at the full picture before we move forward, not just the headlines or our first impressions.
