Nehemiah 6:13

β€œHe hired so that I would be afraid, do so, and sin, and that they might have material for an evil report, that they might reproach me.”

What does Nehemiah 6:13 mean?

Nehemiah's enemies were trying to trap him through fear, hoping he'd abandon his principles and give them ammunition to damage his reputation. They understood that if they could make him act out of panic instead of conviction, they'd have proof he was a hypocrite unfit for leadership. This reveals a common tactic: attacking someone's character by first trying to make them react badly under pressure, then pointing to that reaction as evidence of their true nature. It's a painful reminder that sometimes people's goal isn't to prove you wrong, but simply to make you look bad.
