What does Micah 3:10 mean?

The prophet Micah is describing a deeply troubling reality: the leaders and wealthy people of Jerusalem were constructing their beautiful city while committing terrible injustices. They were literally building their walls and temples, yes, but they were doing it through corrupt practices, bribery, violence, and the exploitation of poor people. It's as if Micah is saying their grand constructions were soaked in the suffering of those they'd wronged. This indictment cuts to the heart of what makes Micah's message so striking: you can't separate what you build from how you build it, and beautiful buildings mean nothing if they're erected on a foundation of cruelty and corruption.
