Micah 3:11
“Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money: yet they lean on Yahweh, and say, “Isn’t Yahweh among us? No disaster will come on us.””
What does Micah 3:11 mean?
Micah is describing a deeply broken society where the very people meant to guide others spiritually have become corrupt. The leaders, priests, and prophets all serve money first, using their positions of trust to extract payment from ordinary people rather than to serve them. What makes this especially tragic is that these same leaders still call themselves God's people and claim His protection, as if their outward religious identity shields them from consequences. The prophet is exposing a dangerous contradiction: you can't exploit the vulnerable while claiming to follow God, and you can't expect divine blessing while turning sacred roles into personal profit centers. The confidence that "no disaster will come on us" rings hollow when it's built on corruption rather than genuine faithfulness.
