Matthew 5:24
“leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”
What does Matthew 5:24 mean?
Jesus is saying that before you bring an offering to God, you need to make peace with someone you've hurt or who's hurt you. The reconciliation matters more than the ritual, more than showing up with the right gift at the right time. This hits hard because it reorders our priorities. We might think we can smooth things over with God while leaving relational wreckage behind us, but Jesus won't allow that split. Genuine worship requires genuine relationships. If there's someone you know you've wronged, or tension you've left unresolved, that unfinished business gets between you and God not because God is distant, but because you can't honestly meet him while avoiding the person in front of you.
