What does Matthew 5:12 mean?
Jesus is telling his followers that when they face persecution for living out their faith, they should actually celebrate because God sees what they're enduring and will honor it eternally. He's not dismissing real pain, but rather anchoring their hope in something deeper than their current circumstances. The connection to the prophets reminds us that suffering for doing what's right isn't new or strange, it's part of a long story of faithful people who've gone before us.
