What does Matthew 26:37 mean?
In Jesus' darkest moment in the garden of Gethsemane, he brings his closest friends with him and lets them see his genuine anguish. This isn't a distant, stoic savior, but someone who experiences deep emotional pain and isn't ashamed to show it. He needed his friends present, even though they would fail him that night by falling asleep. The honesty of his sorrow tells us something important: faith doesn't mean pretending hardship doesn't hurt, and it's okay to let trusted people know when we're struggling.
