What does Matthew 24:38 mean?
Jesus is describing how ordinary life looked right before the flood—people were going about their daily routines, getting married, having meals, living as though nothing would change. He's not saying these activities were sinful; rather, he's pointing out that people were completely unaware of or indifferent to the judgment coming. They ignored Noah's warnings and didn't prepare, even as he was building the ark. In the same way, Jesus wants his listeners to stay alert and spiritually ready, because his return will come when many aren't paying attention or taking it seriously.
