Matthew 23:31
βTherefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.β
What does Matthew 23:31 mean?
Jesus is pointing out the hard truth that his listeners are repeating the same patterns as their ancestors, not just passively accepting them. By opposing him and rejecting his message, they're actively choosing the same path of resisting God's messengers that previous generations did. He's not saying they're guilty for what their ancestors did, but rather that their own choices show they share the same resistance to God's truth. It's a wake-up call: sometimes we become what we claim to reject, and our actions speak louder than our words about what we actually value.
