What does Matthew 20:24 mean?
The other disciples have just learned that James and John asked Jesus for the best seats in his coming kingdom, and now anger ripples through the group. Their indignation reveals something very human: we notice when others seem to get special treatment or unfair advantage, and it stings. Jesus uses this moment of conflict not to shame anyone, but to teach them all that greatness in his kingdom works completely differently than the power games they've witnessed in the world around them, where the strongest claim the highest positions.
