What does Matthew 20:25 mean?
Jesus is pointing out something his disciples already understood: the kingdoms of this world run on power and dominance, where leaders demand obedience and control those beneath them. He's not condemning politics itself, but naming the reality of how earthly authority typically works—through force of will and hierarchical command. The disciples, having grown up in occupied Judea under Roman rule, knew exactly what this looked like. By calling attention to this pattern, Jesus is setting up a contrast.
