What does Matthew 19:25 mean?
The disciples had just heard Jesus teach that it's harder for a rich person to enter God's kingdom than for a camel to squeeze through a needle's eye. Wealth and possessions were seen as signs of God's blessing in their culture, so this completely upended their understanding of who could be righteous enough for salvation. Their shock reflects a genuine crisis: if even the wealthy and successful can't make it, what hope is there for anyone? The question marks a turning point where they begin to realize that being saved isn't about earning your way through moral achievement or status, but depends on something else entirely.
