“He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
What does Matthew 17:20 mean?
Jesus is responding to his disciples' failure to heal a sick boy, and he's pointing to something counterintuitive about faith: it doesn't need to be huge or impressive to be powerful. A mustard seed is tiny, almost invisible, yet it grows into a substantial plant, and that's the kind of faith Jesus is talking about.
