What does Matthew 17:19 mean?
The disciples had just tried and failed to heal a boy who was suffering from seizures, and now they're asking Jesus why their attempt didn't work. They'd been given authority to cast out demons earlier in Matthew, so their confusion makes sense, the power simply didn't show up when they needed it.
