Matthew 15:21
βJesus went out from there, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.β
What does Matthew 15:21 mean?
Jesus stepped away from the crowds and familiar territory to travel into Gentile lands, areas outside Jewish culture and practice. This wasn't random wandering, but a deliberate withdrawal that set up one of the most striking encounters in Matthew's gospel, where Jesus would meet a desperate mother and expand people's understanding of who his compassion reaches. Sometimes moving into new or uncomfortable places is exactly where God has work waiting for us, and where we might discover something vital about ourselves and his kingdom.
