Matthew 15:10
“He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.”
What does Matthew 15:10 mean?
Jesus is calling people to really listen and think about what he's about to say. He's not asking for passive hearing, but for genuine understanding, the kind that actually changes how we see things. In the verses that follow, he challenges common assumptions about what makes a person "unclean" or separated from God, pointing instead to what comes from the heart. It's an invitation to set aside what we've always assumed and consider a deeper truth, which is why he needs to gather everyone close and ask them to truly pay attention.
