What does Matthew 14:30 mean?
Peter had stepped out of the boat to walk toward Jesus on the water, his faith carrying him across the surface. The moment he noticed the wind and waves around him, fear took over and he began to sink, suddenly aware of the impossibly dangerous situation he was in. His immediate cry—"Lord, save me!"—shows us something honest about faith: it doesn't mean never feeling afraid or doubting, but rather turning to Jesus the moment fear takes hold. This moment reminds us that God meets us in our panic and panic itself can become a prayer when we call out to him.
