What does Matthew 14:29 mean?

Peter saw Jesus walking on the water during a storm and asked if he could come to him too. When Jesus simply said, "Come," Peter actually did it, stepping right out of the boat and walking across the water toward Jesus. It's a moment that captures something real about faith: the willingness to leave what's safe and solid beneath you because you trust someone who's calling you forward. Peter didn't let doubt or fear stop him from taking that first step, even though everything in his experience told him people couldn't walk on water.
