What does Matthew 13:5 mean?
In this part of Jesus's parable about a farmer scattering seeds, some land hits shallow, rocky soil. These seeds do sprout quickly because there's nothing blocking them, but that same shallow ground becomes their problem—without deep soil to anchor roots and hold moisture, they won't survive long term. Jesus is describing what shallow, quick responses to faith can look like: enthusiastic at first but fragile when real challenges come.
