What does Matthew 13:39 mean?
Jesus is explaining a parable about weeds growing among wheat in a field. He's telling us that evil in this world isn't random or meaningless—there's a real enemy (the devil) actively working against God's purposes, and the consequences of that opposition will eventually be settled. The "harvest" and "reapers" represent the final judgment at the end of time, when God will sort things out perfectly and permanently through his angels. What makes this comforting, especially when life feels chaotic or unfair, is that Jesus is assuring us this isn't the end of the story. We don't have to clean up all evil ourselves or get discouraged by how much wrongdoing exists right now. God is paying attention, has a plan, and will bring justice. Until then, we're called to grow in faith and goodness alongside whatever brokenness surrounds us.
