Mark 5:21
βWhen Jesus had crossed back over in the boat to the other side, a great multitude was gathered to him; and he was by the sea.β
What does Mark 5:21 mean?
After Jesus calmed a storm on the sea, he and his disciples returned to the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. Word had spread that he was back, and people had been waiting for him, gathering in such large numbers that he found himself pressed right against the water's edge. This simple detail matters because it sets the scene for what comes next: a desperate father will push through that crowd to reach Jesus, and a woman suffering for twelve years will touch his clothes in secret hope. Sometimes the stories of healing begin not with a miracle, but with ordinary people who know where to find Jesus and who show up, waiting and hoping for him to arrive.
