What does Mark 2:5 mean?
When Jesus saw the friends who had carried a paralyzed man through the roof and lowered him down, he recognized something real in their desperation and trust. Instead of immediately healing the man's body, Jesus addresses what he sees as the deeper need: the weight of guilt and spiritual separation that often keeps us trapped. This wasn't a rejection of the man's physical suffering, but rather Jesus saying that before anything else, he's offering peace with God. The man came wanting to walk again, but Jesus offers him something he may not have even known he needed—forgiveness and restoration of his relationship with God.
