What does Mark 2:21 mean?
Jesus is describing what happens when you try to fix something old with something incompatible—the new patch shrinks while the old fabric doesn't, so the tear gets worse instead of better. He's using this everyday image to explain why his new way of living (represented by his disciples not fasting) can't simply be patched onto the old religious system. When you try to force something radically new into an old, rigid framework, both get damaged in the process. The point isn't really about tailoring; it's about recognizing that genuine spiritual renewal requires transformation, not just surface adjustments.
