What does Mark 14:5 mean?
When a woman poured expensive perfume on Jesus' head as an act of worship, some disciples saw waste. They calculated that the perfume could have sold for over a year's wages and the money could have helped people in poverty, which felt like a legitimate concern. But their grumbling missed something important: they were measuring love by its economic efficiency, as if devotion to Jesus needed to justify itself through a cost-benefit analysis. Sometimes the most meaningful acts don't make financial sense, and that's exactly the point.
