Mark 12:24
“Jesus answered them, “Isn’t this because you are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God?”
What does Mark 12:24 mean?
Jesus is responding to the Sadducees, a Jewish group who denied life after death and were trying to trap him with a tricky question about resurrection. His answer cuts to the heart of their problem: they've built their theology on incomplete knowledge. They know *about* Scripture but haven't truly grasped what it says, and they've underestimated what God is actually capable of doing. When we're confused about spiritual matters, Jesus suggests we might need to look more carefully at what Scripture teaches and remember that God's power extends beyond what we naturally expect or understand. This is an invitation to humility and deeper seeking, not a harsh dismissal.
