What does Luke 8:33 mean?
When Jesus cast the demons out of a suffering man, they begged to enter a nearby herd of pigs instead of being sent away entirely. Jesus allowed it, and the terrified animals bolted down the cliff into the water below. This strange detail might seem almost comical, but it reveals something important: the destructive power of evil is real and visible. The demons' compulsion to inhabit *something*, even animals, shows their nature as inherently chaotic and harmful. For the man who'd been tormented and isolated by his condition, this moment marked his liberation. Sometimes freedom comes at a cost others don't understand, and that's okay.
