“Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did the same thing to the prophets.”
What does Luke 6:23 mean?
Jesus is telling his followers that when they face rejection or hardship because of their faith, they can actually find joy in it, because their suffering connects them to something bigger and more meaningful. He's saying their reward in heaven is secure, and they're walking the same path the ancient prophets walked, which gives their struggles a kind of dignity and purpose. It's not about pretending the hard things don't hurt, but about anchoring hope to something that lasts beyond the present moment. When we're mistreated for doing what's right, we're in company with people throughout history who stayed faithful despite the cost.
