What does Luke 21:18 mean?

Jesus speaks these words to his disciples during difficult times, promising that though hardship and persecution may come, God's care for them extends to the smallest details of their lives. This echoes the theme throughout Scripture that we are deeply known and valued by our Creator, who notices even what seems insignificant to the world. The promise isn't that followers of Jesus will never face danger or loss, but rather that God's protective love is comprehensive and personal, covering us completely. It's meant to give us courage and peace, especially when we're afraid, because we belong to someone who holds us in the most careful attention.
