Luke 18:2
“saying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man.”
What does Luke 18:2 mean?
Jesus opens this parable by introducing us to a judge who operates from a place of complete self-interest, answerable to no one and accountable to nothing. He's not motivated by justice or compassion, and he doesn't care what God thinks or what people need from him. This kind of character sets up the tension of the story: if even someone this hardened can be moved to act, what does that tell us about God, who is the opposite of this judge in every way?
