Luke 17:26
“As it was in the days of Noah, even so will it be also in the days of the Son of Man.”
What does Luke 17:26 mean?
Jesus is drawing a parallel between the time before the great flood and what will happen before his return. In Noah's day, people were living normally, eating, drinking, marrying, and building, completely unaware that judgment was coming, right up until the flood arrived. He's warning that his return won't be announced with fanfare or obvious signs that everyone can see coming, so people shouldn't get caught off guard by living as though God's purposes don't matter. This doesn't mean catastrophe is imminent or that we should panic. Rather, Jesus is calling people to live with spiritual awareness and readiness, keeping their relationship with God central, because we genuinely don't know when he'll return. It's an invitation to not drift into spiritual carelessness or assume we have unlimited time to sort out what matters most.
