Luke 17:22
“He said to the disciples, “The days will come, when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.”
What does Luke 17:22 mean?
Jesus is preparing his followers for a time of longing and loss. After he returns to heaven, his disciples will miss his presence so deeply that they'll wish for even one day of walking with him again, but that won't be possible during this earthly life. It's a tender warning: the joy of his company will become a memory they can't recover until the end of time. This speaks to something real that believers still experience—the ache of faith when God feels distant, or the exhaustion of waiting for his return. Jesus isn't being harsh here; he's honest about the difficulty of following him in a world where he's no longer physically present.
