Luke 16:11
“If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?”
What does Luke 16:11 mean?
Jesus is asking a pointed question about what our choices reveal. If we can't be trusted with money, the temporary material thing we can actually see and touch, why would God entrust us with something far more valuable, the spiritual riches that matter eternally? The phrase "unrighteous mammon" doesn't mean money itself is evil, but rather highlights how easily wealth becomes our master and pulls us away from what's true. Jesus isn't saying poor people are more faithful, but that how we handle what we have shows what we genuinely value and whether we're ready for deeper spiritual trust. It's an invitation to examine our hearts: are we proving trustworthy in the small things that are right in front of us?
