“If you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?”
What does Luke 16:12 mean?
Jesus is making a point about trustworthiness and character. If we can't be relied upon to handle what belongs to someone else, why would anyone entrust us with something of our own? It's about the connection between how we treat borrowed or temporary responsibilities and what we're actually worthy of possessing. This comes from a parable about a shrewd manager who mishandled his employer's resources. The deeper truth is that faithfulness in small things, or in handling what we've been given temporarily, reveals who we really are on the inside. Our integrity when no one's looking, or when we're managing something that isn't technically ours, shapes our character and determines what we can be trusted with next.
