Luke 14:33
“So therefore whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he can’t be my disciple.”
What does Luke 14:33 mean?
Jesus is calling people to a radical kind of commitment, not primarily about money but about what we're willing to let go of when following him matters most. He's saying that holding onto our possessions, status, or plans so tightly that we won't change course if he calls us to—that kind of grip prevents us from actually being his disciples. It's about internal readiness, not a literal requirement that everyone sell everything (his followers in the early church had varied circumstances). The challenge is whether anything in our lives is off-limits to God, whether we're truly willing to trust him more than we trust our own security.
