“then I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year, and it shall bear fruit for the three years.”
What does Leviticus 25:21 mean?
God is making a promise here about trust and provision during Israel's sabbath year cycle. Every seventh year, the land was to rest completely—no planting or harvesting allowed—which required real faith from farmers who depended on their crops to survive. God's reassurance is that he'll give such abundance in the sixth year that the harvest will actually sustain people through the seventh year of rest and into the eighth year until new crops come in. This speaks to something many of us wrestle with: what happens when we step back from our constant striving and controlling? God isn't saying obedience will be easy or that the math will make obvious human sense. He's saying that when you honor the rhythm he's designed, his blessing will be enough.
