Judges 2:6

What does Judges 2:6 mean?
Joshua's work of conquest was finished, and now came the harder part: actually living in the land God had promised. Each family and tribe received their own territory, and the verse marks a turning point where Israel shifted from being a unified army under Joshua's leadership to scattered communities settling into their new homes. This transition meant they'd need to rely less on a central commander and more on their own faith and commitment to God. The word "possess" carries the weight of what's ahead, not just claiming the land but genuinely making it theirs, which would prove far more challenging than the initial battles.
