What does John 7:48 mean?
The religious authorities in Jerusalem—the people with power and education—were largely rejecting Jesus, and this fact was being used as an argument against him. In that culture, if the leaders didn't believe, many ordinary people assumed there must be something wrong with the message. But Jesus and his followers came to understand that official approval isn't the same as truth, and sometimes the most important spiritual movements happen among people the powerful overlook. The verse reminds us that popularity among those in charge doesn't determine what's real or good.
