What does John 6:41 mean?
The Jewish leaders and people listening to Jesus were troubled and complaining because his claim sounded impossible and even blasphemous to them. He was saying he came down from heaven, which contradicted everything they knew about him as a carpenter's son from Nazareth. Their confusion and resistance reveal how hard it was for people to accept that God might work in unexpected ways, appearing in human form rather than in the glorious manner they expected. Even when Jesus used familiar language from Scripture about God providing bread (like the manna in the desert), his claim to *be* that bread himself pushed them past what they could accept.
